Woody’s Yappier Hour
Wednesdays • Kirkland, Wash. 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. The Woodmark Hotel, Yacht Club & Spa launches Woody’s Yappier Hour, a weekly, dog-friendly outdoor happy hour featuring the Beach Cafe happy hour menu, special “Dogtail” and free doggie treats. The events are hosted each week by Woody, a Labradoodle puppy and the Woodmark Hotel’s newest staff member. Woody’s Yappier Hour will take place every Wednesday and is FREE to attend with food and beverage at happy hour pricing.

Mutt Lynch Winery Dog Days of Summer Open House
August 14 • Healdsburg, Calif. 11am to 5pm at 602 Limerick Lane. Two- and four-legged guests should come prepared for a doggone good time at Mutt Lynch Winery's sixth annual Dog Days of Summer featuring new release wine tastings, hound lounge, "yapps and apps," live music, and unveiling of 2008 Rusty Muttitage. $10 admission, dogs welcome for free! 100% of admission receipts and 10% of proceeds will be donated to the San Francisco SPCA.
Muttzanita Festival
August 14 • Manzanita, Ore. 10 a.m.3 p.m. at 144 Laneda Ave. Four Paws on the Beach in conjunction with United Paws and the Rotary Club of North Tillamook County are proud to announce the Second Annual Muttzanita Festival. With exciting contests and games, it’s sure to be a good time for the whole family. All proceeds go to United Paws and the Rinehart Clinic’s Well-Child Program. 2nd Annual Duvall DirtyPaws Dog Walk
August 14 • Duvall, Wash. 9 a.m.3 p.m. This charity dog walk is being held to raise money for Homeward Pets, The Motley Zoo Animal Rescue, and the Duvall Chamber of Commerce. It will be held between the businesses at the north end of town to NE Valley Street on the south end of town. Walkers will be given a booklet to be stamped by participating businesses along the walk to be turned in for hourly drawings for door prizes. There will be vendor tents along the walk, and the Police Canine Unit will be present to give a demonstration of their excellent skills. Rainier Hunt Classic
August 14-15 • Everson, Wash. The TriState Jack Russell Club will be hosting this fun weekend at Sweetgrass Farm, 8001 VanBuren Road. Dog Days of Summer and the CityDog Cover Dog Model Search
August 15 • Seattle, Wash. at West Seattle Thriftway. That’s right, we’re looking for our next dog to grace the cover of CityDog Magazine! The cost is $10 per dog with all proceeds going to the Doney Memorial Animal Clinic. Head down to the Thriftway at 4201 Southwest Morgan Street anytime between noon and 3 p.m. to partake in the fun. Pit Bulls on Parade
August 21 • Kent, Wash. 10 a.m.3 p.m. at the Reber Ranch 28060 132nd Avenue SE. A showcase of the amazing Pit Bull breed, this event will include performances in weight pull, agility and other dog sports as well as Canine Good Citizen testing. For every Pit Bull that earns its Canine Good Citizen title, Bullseye Dog Rescue will receive $150 through a generous grant from Animal Farm Foundation. See bullseyerescue.org for more information.
3rd Annual Corgi Walk
August 21 • Portland, Ore. 10 a.m.12 p.m. Registration at 9:15 a.m. The cost is $25 and this year’s Corgi Walk will benefit DoveLewis and the Columbia River Pembroke Welsh Corgi ClubCorgi Rescue. For more information visit dovelewis.org.
Fifth Annual Dogs Day of Summer
August 21 • Monmouth, Ore. at Western Oregon University. 9:00am-10:00am, 10:15am-11:15am, 11:30am-12:30pm, 12:45pm-1:45pm, 2:00-3:00pm at Wolverton Memorial Swimming Pool on the corner of Monmouth Ave. and Jackson St. This dog swim is open to all friendly dogs, big and small who want to socialize while cooling off in the water with other friendly dogs. Various vendors will also be present to educate and inform you of their products or services. There is a fee of $5 per dog per hour. NEW! CityDog Summer Muttmixer
August 25 • Seattle, Wash. 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Spend a summer evening sipping cocktails and mingling with fellow dog lovers at our CityDog Summer Muttmixer. We're rolling out the red carpet at the swanky and super dog-friendly W Hotel Seattle to celebrate our fifth birthday and we want you and your furry friend to join us in celebration! There will be a DJ spinning, tails wagging and people mingling. The event is free to attend, but please RSVP to rsvp@citydogmagazine.com.
Hogs for Dogs Motorcycle Dice Run
August 28 • Gig Harbor, Wash. Enjoy a scenic motorcycle ride, while helping to raise money for dogs and cats. The charity Motorcycle Dice Run begins with registration at 8:30 a.m. and ends with great food and live music by the blues band Loose Gravel and Quarry at the Floatation Device. The event is open to the public and those not riding are welcome to join the fun at the Floatation Device anytime after 3 p.m. All proceeds benefit Coalition: HUMAnE. coalitionhumane.org
Bark for Life: Tacoma...a Canine Event to Prevent Cancer
August 28 • Tacoma, Wash. at Wright Park, 501 South I Street, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Join the walk to fight cancer, followed by games, contests, entertainment, doggie demos, vendors, prizes and more. $15 per dog fee by 7/31 or $20 per dog fee after 8/1. Mutt Strut 2010
August 28 • Everett, Wash. 10 a.m. - 3 p.m. Langus Riverfront Park, 400 Smith Island Road. Coax the animal talent out of your lovable pet. Be he purebred or mutt, let your furry companion show just how high he can jump, how loud he can howl and how fast he can run. Celebrate what it means to be a dog (and a responsible dog owner) at this annual event held across from the Animal Shelter at Langus Riverfront Park. Activities include a community dog walk, displays, lectures, competitions, prizes and dog bandana. Mutt Strut is a fun and FREE event for all dogs & dog owners. If you wish to enter your dog in the races or competitions, the cost is $5/dog for one event or $10 for unlimited events.

Seattle Humane Society Night at the Mariners
September 1 • Seattle, Wash. Game starts at 7:10 p.m. Join the Seattle Humane Society for a Night at the Mariners at Safeco Field. Animal lovers are in a league of their own...that's why Seattle Humane has teamed up with Major League Baseball to offer a special discounted price to see Mariners vs. Angels. $7 from each ticket purchased will be donated to the animals in the Seattle Humane Society's care. Westie Walk
September 11 • Portland, Ore. 9 a.m. at Wallace Park, NW 25th and Raleigh. Hundreds of “Westies” (West Highland terriers) take their owners to Northwest Portland for a 1½ mile walk and lots of attention. Dogs who are friends of Westies are welcome to join the fun. The $20 per dog registration fee goes to benefit the Velvet Assistance Fund. For more information visit dovelewis.org.
PAWSwalk and the CityDog Cover Dog Model Search
September 11 • Seattle, Wash. This 5k walk at Seattle’s Magnuson Park is PAWS’ largest community fundraiser of the year with thousands of walkers and their canines participating. The event also includes the Kid’s Zone, a canine agility course, shopping, and the fifth annual CityDog Cover Dog Model Search. That’s right, we’re looking for our next dog to grace the cover of CityDog Magazine and raising money for PAWS while we’re at it! Space is limited so register early for the event. Fear, Aggression and Play: Weekend Seminar
September 11-12 • Seattle, Wash. 9-4:30 pm at 1900 5th Avenue. Harbor Hounds
September 18 • Gig Harbor, Wash. The 8th annual Harbor Hounds walk will be held by the Gig Harbor Midday Rotary Club. A portion of the proceeds will go to support Coalition Humane and Prison Pet Partnership. Times have not yet been scheduled but check back to harborhounds.com to keep up to date.
Fremont Oktoberfest and the CityDog Cover Dog Model Search
September 24 - 26 • Seattle, Wash. Mark your calendar for the fifth annual CityDog Cover Dog Model Search at Fremont Oktoberfest, Sun. Sept. 26th at 3:00 p.m. for the chance for your dog to be on a future cover of CityDog Magazine. $10 per dog, with all proceeds going to the Reading with Rover program. Animal Krackers

Dogtoberfest
September 25 • Portland, Ore. 11 a.m.5 p.m. at the Lucky Labrador Brew Pub, 915 SE Hawthorne. Pack up the pooches and head on down to the Lucky Labrador Brew Pub. We guarantee they will leave much cleaner than they came. We suggest a $10 donation to scrub up and dry off each dog. The money raised will go to benefit the DoveLewis Blood Bank, which is one of the largest volunteer-based blood banks in America. Walk for the Animals, FidoFEST and the CityDog Cover Dog Model Search
September 26 • Seattle, Wash. 8:00 a.m. 2:00 p.m. The Seattle Humane Society invites you and your pooch to participate in its 8th annual Walk for the Animals, a scenic 5K walk that begins at University Village and continues on the Burke Gilman Trail and helps raise money for animals. For a fee of $30 all registered walkers receive a Walk for the Animals T-shirt for you and a bandana for your furry friend. oin thousands of runners and walkers at this is fun, family oriented, pet-friendly event. Participants will enjoy refreshments, sample products and visit vendor booths at the post-Walk festival. Live music, decorated bras and prizes add to festivities. Cancer survivors will receive special treatment in the Survivor Pavilion, and the survivor recognition ceremony before the Walk sets the stage for a truly inspirational day. Four-legged walkers (leashed of course!) are welcome. The post-Walk festival is also dog-friendly, so bring Fido along to keep you company. Don’t miss the healthy treats at the Pet Zone. 25th Annual Dawg Dash
October 24 • Seattle, Wash. Starts at Husky Stadium. The dog-friendly Dawg Dash is more than just good for your body; it's good for the UW student body.
