CityDog does local and you don’t get much more local than a locally-owned, independent micro brewery. Check out these five Seattle-area pubs and breweries where the beers on tap are always brewed in Washington and your dog is always welcome.

Future Primitive Brewing (9832 14th Ave SW, Seattle; futureprimitivebeer.com) Located in White Center, Future Primitive Brewing (pictured above) is a family- and Fido-friendly taproom with beers brewed on-site and growler fills available to go. The patio is also pup friendly and the place to hang and watch fellow patrons play cornhole. With 12 beers on tap, it’s a plethora of choices. We recommend the German style NPFO Pilsner (we’ll let you find out what NPFO stands for). Not too sweet or too hoppy, this Pils dances in the middle, making it a truly drinkable, refreshing beer — brewed in true German traditional methods to be as authentic as possible. Delicious! For food, FPB offers a variety of hot sandwiches prepared by their neighbors at Good Day Doughnuts. If we were to choose a perfect beer-sandwich pairing, we would suggest the Meatball Hot Sub, with beef and pork meatballs, red sauce, mozzarella & fried jalapeños. Yum! West Seattle Brewing Company TapShack (2536 Alki Ave SW, Seattle; westseattlebrewing.com) With prime real estate on Alki Avenue in West Seattle, the TapShack is the place to be this summer. The pup-friendly patio is expansive, but get there early to secure a table — it gets crowded when the sun is shining. If you’re lucky, grab one of the Adirondacks, kick off your shoes, dip your toes in the sand, and soak in the views of Puget Sound and downtown Seattle while sipping a Cold Beer Pilsner — a light lager you are going to love. Or, try their Black Cherry Hard Seltzer; not too sweet, not too tart, but just right for a sunny day at the beach. Be sure to follow Dogs of West Seattle Brewing on Instagram (@dogsofwsb).
Flatstick Pub (multiple locations; flatstickpub.com) When we first visited Flastick Pub in 2014, their one location was in Kirkland. Today, they have six locations: Kirkland, Pioneer Square, South Lake Union, Tacoma, Spokane and Bellingham. There are only two rules at Flatstick Pub: drink local and have fun and they are passionate about both. Flatstick was inspired by the idea to create a casual pub that features a miniature golf course and from day one, they only offer beer from independent breweries located in Washington. Understandably, dogs are not allowed in the mini golf area (putting greens are just too tempting for a pee break), but they can hang out nearby, enjoying golf with their human on one of the pub’s giant flatscreen TVs. @flatstickpub
Logan Brewing Company (510 SW 151st Street, Burien; loganbeer.com) Located in the heart of downtown Burien, dog- and kid-friendly Logan Brewing Company features 10 beers on tap and three guest taps including San Juan Seltzer’s huckleberry hard seltzer. Speaking of berries, we are intrigued by the description of Double Hearts Raspberry Wheat Ale, described as “Remember our popular Full Hearts’ Raspberry Wheat Ale? Ever wondered what would happen if we dialed the raspberry up to eleven, boosted the strength, and soured it just for good measure?” It’s fermented with over 50 gallons of red raspberry purée! For something more traditional, try the first beer they ever released, Speedrunner, a classic West Coast IPA. @loganbrewing
Jolly Roger Taproom (1111 NW Ballard Way; maritimebrewing.com) This Ballard bastion is home to a pioneer in the micro brewing industry, Maritime Pacific Brewing Company. If you were old enough to drink in the 1990s then you definitely drank their beer. Dog friendly before dog friendly was a ‘thing,’ the Jolly Roger is a cool, classic place to grab a cold one with your canine.
