Halloween isn’t just for humans anymore! Our four-legged friends are joining in on the spooky festivities with a line-up of tail-wagging, dog-friendly Halloween events that are set to make this season unforgettable.
From bewitching costume contests to pumpkin-filled play dates, cities everywhere are rolling out the orange carpet for our canine companions. So, don your costumes and get ready to have some fun with Fido at these dog-friendly Halloween events.
1. Atlanta: Howl-O-Ween at UrbanTree Cidery
What better way to celebrate the spookiest time of year than with a pint of cider in your hand and your furry ghouls and goblins by your side? Our friends at UrbanTree Cidery are hosting a special, dog-friendly Howl-O-Ween event featuring a pet costume contest with prizes for both humans and their pups plus:

2. Austin: Howl-O-Ween at the Yard Bar
The Yard Bar and Love-A-Bull are teaming up for the third annual Howl-O-Ween celebration, with a costume contest, silent auction pickup party and more!
The costume contest kicks off at 2:00 p.m. Categories include: best group, best owner/dog look-a-like, best DIY costume and best pittie costume. The celebration also features the Love-A-Bull Pit Bull Awareness Month with a silent auction pickup party. The silent auction fundraiser runs until October 26, with amazing prizes.
Winners will pick up their prizes on-site at Yard Bar on October 28 between 1:00 and 3:00 p.m.

3. Baltimore: BARCStoberfest
BARCStoberfest is an annual, pet-friendly festival and fundraiser that benefits the lifesaving programs and animal care at the Baltimore Animal Rescue and Care Shelter (BARCS). This family-friendly event includes the popular Ready, Set, Sniff! 5K Run and 1-Mile Walk, a pet-friendly beer garden with live music, Halloween costume contests, a local food truck rally, yoga with your dog, a shopping market and so much more! 4. Boston: Doggone Halloween Pet Parade
This fun and free event helps put Boston dog lovers in the Halloween spirit, as the public showcases their beloved–and costumed–canines, with a Doggone Halloween Pet Parade. The panel of judges will declare winners in the categories of Best Costume, Scariest Costume, Cutest Costume, Best Dog & Human Duo, and Best Dog & Child Duo. Fantastic prizes, including hotel stays and gift baskets will be up for grabs!
As part of the free family-friendly fun, face-painters and caricature artists will be on Summer Street to complement an array of dog-themed vendors.

10. Los Angeles: Haute Dog Howl’oween Parade
Claiming to be the “World’s Largest Halloween Pet Event,” the Haute Dog Howl’oween Parade for animal charities features more than 500 dogs in colorful costumes! Even for folks who don’t normally venture down Long Beach way, some of these canine costumes really are worth the drive. This year’s event is held in a new location: the former Belmont Pool grassy area and paths. Bring a folding chair for second row seating, or rent one of the 450 front-row seats in the park ($5).
Dogs (or their owners) pay $10-$35 to participate and can win what they love best: pet food. Proceeds from the day’s events benefit Haute Dogs and Community Action Team (CAT).

13. Philadelphia: Hound-O-Ween Fall Festival
Philly’s biggest Halloween dog costume contest is back, bigger than ever, and shutting down the 700 block of North 2nd Street to accommodate all the cuteness! Decked out dogs are invited to strut across the stage in full costume at the Hound-O-Ween Fall Festival. Contestants will compete in a variety of categories for prizes, plus all pets will compete for the grand prize of $500, sponsored by Wilson’s Estate Jewelry. Registration for this annual benefit is only a $30 donation per pet.
